Aspero Medical to Showcase Ancora-SB at the ACG Annual Scientific Meeting
Soft Pillar™ technology brings a new approach to anchoring and small bowel access.
WESTMINSTER, Colo., October 9, 2026— Aspero Medical, LLC will exhibit at the ACG Annual Scientific Meeting taking place from October 11th through the 13th at Music City Center in Nashville, TN. Attendees can visit Aspero at Booth 2528 to learn about Ancora-SB, the first small bowel balloon overtube to incorporate the company’s proprietary Soft Pillar™ technology.
Small bowel enteroscopy allows physicians to diagnose and treat conditions beyond the reach of conventional endoscopy. Maintaining reliable anchoring during advancement remains a procedural challenge. Ancora-SB is designed to support stabilization, anchoring, and advancement of compatible enteroscopes, with a textured balloon surface engineered to reduce unintended slippage.
In bench testing using porcine small intestine, Ancora-SB demonstrated an average of 5.8 times greater anchoring force than a currently commercially available smooth balloon. A separate porcine study demonstrated comparable mucosal tissue response to the smooth-balloon comparator. These preclinical findings support the device’s anchoring design; they do not establish improvements in human procedure completion rates or procedure times.
“Reliable anchoring is fundamental to advancing through the small bowel,” said Mark Rentschler, CEO & Co-founder of Aspero Medical. “With Ancora-SB, we are applying our Soft Pillar technology to a practical challenge physicians encounter during enteroscopy. We look forward to sharing the technology and discussing how it can support their procedural needs.”
Ancora-SB is a single-use balloon overtube indicated to ensure complete positioning of an endoscope in the small intestine through oral or anal insertion and to assist with optical visualization, diagnosis, and endoscopic treatment. It is designed for use with compatible standard enteroscopes and balloon inflation units, as specified in the Instructions for Use.
